LIKE PACIFIC II

The second music video I've DPed/coloured for Like Pacific.
Once again directed/edited by Miguel Barbosa of YEAH! Films.

This was my first chance to shoot on the RED Epic Dragon.
We shot in 6K anamorphic with my Lomos.
The increased field of view over my RED One MX was really awesome. As you can see, there's a lot more barrel distortion than in my other videos, which I love.
We shot using the Skin Tone Highlight OLPF and compression ranging from 5:1 to 8:1.
Overall, really enjoyed using the Dragon!

NO KING FOR COUNTRYMEN

Recently DPed the new video for Hospital Beds, the new single from No King For Countrymen.

Really stoked on how it came out:

Filmed in 4K on my RED One MX kit with my LOMO anamorphic prime lenses.

Director & Editor - Miguel Barbosa for Yeah! Films.
DP/Colourist - Ryan Glover
Producer - Matheson Murray

A WALK

I had a chance to shoot a very cool experimental narrative project the other weekend with Midland filmmaker Ashley Matt.

All exterior, all natural lighting. Some very, very interesting long takes. It was a blast.
I filmed the project with my RED One MX and LOMO anamorphic primes lenses.

Here are some stills pulled from the 4K footage:

RED One MX//ANAMORPHIC tests

Spent some time recently testing my Lomo squarefront anamorphic lenses on my RED One outside of the standard 4K ANA record mode.

These shots were all captured at the camera's full 4096x2304 resolution.
The exteriors are 24p and cropped to about a 3:1 aspect ratio.
Interiors are un-cropped and conformed from 30p.

I really wish Red had added a 4.5K ANA mode like they added the 4.5K widescreen mode.
That would allow me to see more of these lenses field of view and with anamorphic, that's where a lot of the magic hides; distortion, vignetting, bowing, mmm...

UPDATE: I did a few more tests since it's got a little nicer out.

The following edit plays twice; first un-cropped at 3.56:1 then with a 2.67:1 crop.

GH3 Feature Film Shoot

Still grabs from Adam Christie's feature film debut 'Weak Ends'. This microbudget project was shot fast and furiously at the beginning of June in the beaches area of Toronto. I was the cinematographer and shot the film on the Panasonic GH3 with Lomo spherical lenses mounted with the Hot Rod PL system.
