LOMO prime lenses

Just acquired three LOMO spherical standard speed prime lenses for when anamorphic is not right for the project.
I'm loving the look of them so far! Cool bokeh and rendering (but maybe you hate it?).

  1. Nice lenses. I've considered getting a set myself. I have an opportunity to get the Lomo Superspeeds but just trying to figure out if the extra cost is justifiable. How are yours mechanically?

  2. Hey Bob. Mechanically they're not that great. Though I haven't tested them with a follow focus yet, so it's hard to say for sure. But nowhere near as buttery as a modern cine lens for sure. But they have that special look I'm after, so it's worth putting up with dicey mechanics to me. Faster lenses would be nice in some cases but I like to shoot at 2.8 & a 1/2 when I can anyway. Do the super speeds have as many iris blades as the standards?
